Balance through kindness

Today I found myself in the kitchen, hands in dough, moving slowly… breathing, feeling, simply being.

And it reminded me of something I shared in class yesterday — how important it is to consciously create moments of kindness toward ourselves.

Not grand gestures. Just small, intentional pauses. A warm cup of tea. A deep breath. A moment of softness instead of pressure.

In yoga philosophy, these moments cultivate a sattvic state of mind — a space of clarity, balance, and inner harmony. From that place, happiness doesn’t need to be chased - it naturally arises.

As the Bhagavad Gita reminds us:

“Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.”

When we meet ourselves with kindness, we return home.

So tell me, what have you done to show yourself kindness?

Remember that balance begins with small but consistent actions of awareness 🕉️

I have my wool yoga mat on the floor in my office. I also have a bolster and two blocks.

When I feel stressed I lie down on the mat. Sometimes just in Savasana, sometimes in some other position.

Today I did the sphinx position😃

A short break of a few minutes to be kind to myself and get some relaxation.
